Dear Members,

Thank you to all the families who completed the end of the season survey.  We had over 70 responses and we really appreciate all your feedback.

The Alberta government is going to be implementing a gradual reopening of businesses/activities. At this point we still do not have any indication when the 2020-2021 hockey season will commence or when we will be allowed to open registration. As soon as the information becomes available, we will be able to share it with our members.

The social distancing rule of 15 people at a public gathering is still in effect at this time, which impacts our upcoming Annual General Meeting.  Under the Hockey Alberta guidelines, in person meetings can be deferred for up to 3 months.  This means that we currently have until August 31st to host ours. Our current board members have all agreed to continue their roles until our AGM can be held and we have been holding board meetings via conference call as needed.  Again, as more information becomes available we will be sharing with the membership. In the meantime, please consider volunteering for a board position when the time comes.  You can find position descriptions attached to this email. The only 2 positions that are not up for re-election are the President and Secretary (now renamed Vice President- Administration and Secretary).  We would love to have greater representation on the board from different families and different levels of hockey.  Please contact Andrew at president@stmatthewhockey.com for more information.

Finally, we hope you are all doing well and staying healthy during this unusual time.

Until we meet again at the rink,

Andrew Westervelt
President
St. Matthew Hockey Club
