Dear St Matthew Families,

Many of our members have inquired about the funeral arrangements for little Nate. A Celebration of Nate The Great’s Life will be held on Friday, February 14, 2020 at 2:00 pm at Evergreen Funeral Home at 16204 Fort Road.

In honor of Nate The Great and Congenital heart defect week, the family encourages anyone that will be attending his Celebration of Life to wear pink or red for Valentine’s Day, your favorite superhero cape, or T-shirt.

Nate The Great touched a lot of lives in his time at our club. Many people have asked how they can honour his memory.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the Stollery Children’s Hospital in Nate’s memory.

There is also a Go Fund Me account that was created by his family friends. If you are interested in contributing, the link is here: https://www.gofundme.com/f/love-for-nate?utm_source=customer&utm_medium=copy_link-tip&utm_campaign=p_cp+share-sheet

Additionally, if anyone has any cards or messages they would like to forward on to Nate’s family, please contact your category director. We will ensure that his family receives it all.

Our hockey club has decided to honour Nate The Great in the following ways:

Nate’s KC jersey is being given to his parents. We are currently having a namebar made and attached to the back of it. He will always be a part of our KC family.

We have also purchased Nate the Great helmet stickers for every player and coach in our hockey club. A special thank you to our Novice Director Aaron for designing the logo. We know that our players and coaches will wear them with pride.

Finally, two of our Atom teams (the Firebirds and the Vipers) are fundraising and participating in the Stollery Family Classic tournament this weekend. When the organizers heard about Nate’s story from our Firebirds manager Katrina, they decided they would like to honour him by having each player in the tournament wear a special helmet sticker in Nate’s favorite colour.

Rest in Peace Nate the Great. You will live on in our hearts.
